Hey there, I’m Erin!

I know you’re feeling lost and change seems damn-near impossible at times. It’s easy to stay the same, but you know in the back of your mind that you’re not willing to accept this as your life.

So I’ve saved you a seat on my couch.

You’ve been told so many times that you’re self-aware and given credit for your insight. At the same time, you’re wondering why that insight hasn’t translated into inner peace or behavior change.

Through our work together, you will learn to quiet the voice which keeps you stuck and unfulfilled. You’ll rework your definition of success to be one that is all yours, not societies (or that account you follow on Instagram).

I look forward to meeting you!

Bruce the dog

Dr. Wong’s dog, Bruce

To be creative in my approach, I’m committed to being a lifelong learner.

I obtained my Bachelor’s Degree in Health Science, with a focus on alcohol and substance abuse counseling, and went on to receive my Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling.

After multiple years in the workforce as a therapist, supervisor, program developer, and adjunct professor, I returned to school to in pursuit of my Doctorate. Throughout my doctoral program, I researched the connection between psychological flexibility and vicarious trauma.

I draw from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to help you accept what’s outside of your control while committing to actions that align with your values. Through Polyvagal Therapy, we’ll work on regulating your nervous system so that you feel more grounded and less overwhelmed by stress and anxiety. I also use Parts Work to help you understand and embrace the different parts of yourself, especially the ones that may have been trying to protect you but are no longer serving you.

Less formally, I am a wife, book nerd, lake lover, and a dog-mom to a handsome pup named Bruce.

My Approach to Therapy

Values Focused: I believe that therapy should help you identify what is most important to you, what you want to stand for, and help you align your behavior with those values.

Mindfulness Based: We live in a world that requires multitasking. It’s common to catch yourself planning for the future or distracted by the past. I employ a mindful approach which allows one to observe their experience without becoming overly attached to it. As you become more aware of your thoughts and feelings, you will have more control over separating from the unhelpful ones and moving in a different direction.

Action Oriented: Once you have identified what you want and a path to get there, you will focus on developing the skillset to get you there. I am committed to providing a place for you to develop a tangible plan of action and help you knock over the barriers standing in the way.
